Weekly Market Update January 1-8

Faris Team CEO and Broker, Mark Faris, says that the week of Christmas was seasonly quiet on the market, resulting in dramatic increases in most stats for the first week of January. Midland and area’s average sale price skyrocketed, but due to higher-priced properties selling firm.

We’re watching the market closely amidst the provincial lockdown, and are operating as an essential service to help those who need to move throughout the pandemic.

Barrie & Area

Compared to the week of December 25-31:

  • Average selling price is $692K, down 9%  

  • 392% more new listings than last week (only 13 new listings were posted during the week of Christmas)

  • 44% more homes sold

  • List-to-sale ratio is down, but remains strong at 101.1%


Midland & Surrounding Area

Compared to the week of December 25-31:

  • Average selling price is $865K, up 37%  

  • There were no new listings the week of Christmas, but 16 is a 33% increase over the week of Dec 17-24)

  • 10% fewer homes sold

  • List-to-sale ratio is down, but still strong at 100.5 %


Orillia & Surrounding Area

Compared to the week of December 25-31:

  • Average selling price is $682K, up 6%  

  • 386% more new listings (from just 7 the week of Christmas)

  • 238% more homes sold (from just 8 the week of Christmas)

  • List-to-sale ratio is down slightly but still strong at 102.1%
